Dear Yogi,
Like so many of you, I too suffer from physical pain in various parts
of my body. I know that most of you are thinking,"what?" "You are a
yoga instructor and you are in shape". "You are doing this on a daily
basis". Which is all true...... I don't want to imagine what I would
feel like if I was not in the studio as much as I am. The most
chronic area in my body is in my neck. This is, of course, originating
from my mid-back. When I was pregnant with my first child many years
ago, things went a little out of whack. I had recently started a
career, which Iwould spend doing for the next ten years, only
intensifying the the problem. My neck would often go out of alignment,
leaving me with a lot of muscle pain, reduced range of motion, and
headaches that would last for days. The only thing in the past that
helped, was a chiropractic adjustment. But, once I began yoga, it all
changed. When I am practicing yoga and/or even teaching class, the pain
goes away. Sometimes temporarily and other times for quite a long
while. I found that the more gentle my practice was, the better for me.
Whatever the length of time, it is always a welcome relief. And even
though I am touting the benefits of yoga to all of you and many others
on a daily basis, I sometimes forget that it applies to me as well.
Until I feel the results. This is a gentle reminder to all of
you, that even when you do not feel like coming to class because you
hurt too much or are just plain exhausted..... those are the times that
you need to be there more than ever. We all know that great feeling we
have when we are leaving class and that is what we need to remember in
those times when we need some motivation to get to yoga. (Including me) See you in class!
Namaste, Danielle Danielle Krywko Owner of Yoga in the Vinesp.s.
A little side note for all. Recent new studies at UCLA are citing the
positive health effects of yoga (which we already know). And in
conjunction with this, many health insurance carriers are paying for
yoga classes. You should check with your insurance to see what may be
available to you. We are always happy to provide receipts. Maybe all
will be covered, maybe a portion, but if nothing else, perhaps we can
get them started on a new program. It would be about time!

Partner Yoga Workshop
|

Join Catherine Moyers for a partner yoga
workshop taking you to new places in familiar poses. This workshop will
also be a fundraiser for Doctors Without Borders for their support of Haitian relief. This workshop
will focus on the tantric connectedness between us all, whether with a partner
on a one-to-one basis doing asanas, or feeling the global connectedness that
makes us care about people in another part of the world.
No partner necessary; we can match you up with someone
else with no partner. No previous yoga experience necessary, just an open
heart and a willingness to try.
Saturday,
March 27th, 1 - 3:30 p.m.
$45 per couple, $25 for individuals
Please respond in advance! Danielle@yogainthevines.com or 805.610.5910
